Moroccan footballer recently set the continent on fire with his comment during the FIFA World Cup games. He attributed his win to the Arab and Muslim world, when Morocco is an African country playing on a ticket from being an African team.

During the same FIFA World Cup games a Danish broadcaster insulted the Moroccan football club when he compared them to monkeys. When some team members were hugging their mothers, he held a photo of tan monkeys.
Some people living in the North African country can be very light to darker skinned. Reports have surfaced of racism and anti-blackness in the country.
Ending Denial: Anti-Black Racism in Morocco
Morocco is a diverse country that has yet to come to terms with its own black population and the impact of centuries of the trans-Sahara slave trade. Diversity, the history of slavery in Morocco, and the racism that is generally inherent in post-slave societies are not openly discussed and often denied by non-Blacks. This paper examines the efforts of black Moroccans to tell the stories of racial discrimination against them as a first step in an attempt to raise awareness, pierce the taboos and end the denial surrounding anti-black racism in Morocco.

I’ve met many White people that say they’ve been to Africa oddly they usually name a Northern African country. For example Egypt or Morocco, once even a Black American who said she’s never wanted to go to Africa only North Africa also naming the same two countries.
Is there some reason why people choose to go to the countries with the lighter skin Arab folks, instead of a sub Saharan African country? One can only wonder if it is that or the anti-Blackness within so many people. As if darker skin people aren’t safe to be around.
