Laughing at sexual assault in Ghana something I’ve never been able to understand and when I ask Ghanians they just laugh. When I was visiting Tumu Ghana I was awakened by the sounds of a young child screaming in English “Please stop, stop it hurts, please stop it hurts!”

Their sounds of screaming and crying went on for 45 minutes, it was outside the hotel in which I was staying. The hotel had cut the electricity, there was someone outside of my door, I heard their flip-flops (chale wotes) I called my ex who is a soldier in the Ghana Army & the reason why I was in Tumu.

It was 3:30 am, the soldier (the ex) was on duty, meaning he was watching over the barracks for his shift which they do as 1 man not as a team, while others slept. He told me not to leave the room, I wanted to go outside & see where the noise was coming from.

Yes, I wanted to find the child and help them, sure this might have caused me issues I didn’t care at the time and still wish I had…
