No, years ago in Kenya marrying a man didn’t mean he would, or could get a second wife, he needed the signature of his first wife before obtaining more wives. (if it wasn’t traditional)
No, in 2023 a Kenyan woman doesn’t have the legal right to even know if her husband has more wives. He can legally get married without ever telling her or asking her permission.
No, a side-chick isn’t a wife but apparently things have gotten so bad with cheating in Kenya that HIV is on the rise as well as a strain of incurable super gonorrhea.
[traditional marriages aren’t the same, if the marriage has no marriage certificate it isn’t a legal one under Kenyan law. Meaning you can’t use a traditional marriage to immigrate to another country. You can’t obtain a divorce without a marriage number which is on the certificate. A lot of Kenyans don’t register their marriages again I’ve explained this in prior articles one called the “Romance Scheme” where people are married but get married to foreigners for citizenship. Like in Ghana & countries where polygamy is illegal.]
Edday Nderitu is married to a Kenyan man nicknamed Samidoh who is a singer. His real name is Samuel Muchoki he’s been married for 15 years to Edday but has fathered children with another woman. Senator Karen Nyamu the woman he has 2 children with and he continue to have sex, cheating on his wife Edday.
She posted on her Instagram account something millions of women can understand. She didn’t get married to share her husband, to endure his public cheating or raise her children in a polygamous household.
She outlines all her issues, yet for some reason in the almost 4000 comments Kenyan women & men think her situation is funny.
