According to several news sources, every time the family tried to take the young ladies body to the burial site something happened. Unexplained car trouble was one sign. Sis said pay me what you owe me me and that’s that!

Residents and passers-by at Mwitoti market, Mumias East, Kakamega County, were stunned after a dead body ‘refused’ to be transported to her in-laws for burial after a dispute over unpaid dowry.
The two families had taken the body of 19-year-old Mildred Makokha from St. Mary’s Mumias hospital mortuary for burial at her home. Her home in Makunga, Navakholo sub-county, by-passed her parents’ homestead.
“While passing the home, I asked the driver to hoot in order to alert the late’s family that we were now en route to the burial site,” said Abel Shikuku Katima who had accompanied the body in the hearse.
After elders spoke to the body of the young woman explaining how the man’s family would pay the dowery. Then they were able to take her to the burial place. So young to die but she wanted what was due to her family.
